AM Machines Featured in RAW Modular Plywood & Mass Timber Design and Construction Training Program
In this video, we learn about how RAW Modular uses AM.CO.ZA Machinery, in their RAW Modular Plywood & Mass Timber Design and Construction Training Program as well as their business to produce modular furniture.
During the week of 23-27 January ‘23, Raw welcomed a group of 15 Architecture students from the University of Pretoria for a Plywood Design and Construction week. The aim of the week was to familiarise the students with the processes around designing and manufacturing with plywood by using contemporary design and machining techniques. This course is envisioned to be the first in a series of training weeks – taking the students from a basic understanding of plywood design and manufacturing to creating parametric systems that aid in the design of multiple-use structures.
For RAW Modular, the making of a piece of furniture is very important. To do this, they focus on prototypes, and turning ideas into tangible pieces of furniture. And for this, AM.CO.ZA Machinery, such as CNC Routers comes in handy.
The idea is to get these professionals up to speed with what can be achieved in a digital environment. And then let them experience the process of turning a digital design into a tangible product.
