Wallpaper Project from Measurement, Design, Print to Install Step by Step Guide
Today, we are thrilled to showcase an extraordinary project that we’ve been working on. The results are absolutely stunning, and if you think this current masterpiece is impressive, just wait until you see what’s next. Keep your eyes peeled because things are about to get exciting!
Setting the Stage
Alright, we’re here in the reception area at AM.CO.ZA’s warehouse. What we have here is essentially a blank canvas, ready to be transformed. We’re starting with the wall to our right, although this isn’t the one we’re focusing on just yet. We’ll be working our way from here, continuing along the wall, and ignoring certain pieces as we progress. We’ll be moving straight up and across.
Preparing for the Transformation
The first step is to prepare the wall, ensuring it’s smooth and ready for wallpapering this massive masterpiece.
Back at the Office: Planning the Project
Back in the office, we’ve had a chance to assess the reception wall at Advanced Machinery’s office. This is a significant undertaking, with the wall on the right-hand side measuring a total of 7 meters. Our strategy is to start from the left side, which is the smallest section, and gradually move through the medium-sized sections before tackling the large wall on the right.
Before we dive into the artwork, we need to gather some measurements. We’ll add up the bottom measurements to determine the entire canvas size, then section off each wall accordingly. We’ll add some bleed for safety, making our total dimensions 9,700mm by 4,900mm.
Sectioning Off the Walls
Our first task is to section off the walls. We’ll start with the wall on the furthest left, which measures 3,100mm by 3,690mm. We’ll move this section to the left-hand corner, then duplicate it for the next wall. The next block will measure 1,280mm plus 4.7m, and we’ll place it adjacent to the first section.
We’re not overly concerned about specific areas like the doorway or the walkway underneath the wall. We’ll focus on the small and medium sections first, cutting out the necessary portions for doors and walkways later. Once we’ve sectioned off the walls, we can begin importing the artwork and start the real transformation.
Importing and Adjusting the Artwork
We’ve received the artwork from our customer, and the next step is to open a new document to the correct size—6,800mm by 8,900mm. We’ll drag the artwork onto our new setup page, ensuring it fits perfectly edge-to-edge.
After ensuring the artwork is to size, we’ll add a square to indicate where the wall will cut off some of the design. The red piece won’t be printed as it represents the beginning of the roof. We’ll continue the wall from there.
Cutting the Panels
Now, we’ll start cutting the panels horizontally. Each panel will be around 950mm high, making it manageable during installation. We’ll ensure a minimum 20mm overlap between each piece for a seamless finish. This process involves selecting, cutting, and hiding each section of the artwork as we go.
We’ll repeat this process for every single panel, measuring, cutting, and saving each one as a JPEG for printing. This ensures that all panels are the perfect size for installation.
Printing and Installation
With all panels cut and saved, it’s time to print using a Large Format Printer. We’ll print each section and prepare for the final installation.
The Final Reveal
Finally, we’ve completed the first section of the wallpaper in AM’s reception area. The result is absolutely superb—the colours and design are spot on. We invite you to take a look and see for yourself how well these machines perform and what they can achieve.
Conclusion
Thank you for watching! We hope you enjoyed seeing how we transformed this blank canvas into a masterpiece. Stay tuned for more exciting projects as we continue to work on this building. There’s much more to come!
